Crag Steward Program
This year, the RMF will be launching a new Crag Steward program to help our ever growing community better maintain our favorite crags. We are often asked how climbers can get involved. The answer has historically been to come to trail work days, pick up trash, model responsible behaviors and of course, to join the RMF. With the crag steward program, there is now a new way to get involved and make a hugely positive impact on your local cliff and community.
Volunteer Crag Stewards are needed for Pinnacle, Chatfield Hollow, Bear Rock, Firewall, and Ragged. The ideal candidate lives near their chosen crag and or visits it regularly. All stewards are required to make a minimum one year commitment.
Crag Stewards get perks like a Crag Steward Hoodie, climbing goodies, discounts at select climbing gyms and of course the feeling one gets from doing something that benefits the entire community.
Crag Stewards responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Check on their crag at least once every week or two
Pick up trash and chat with users about LNT when necessary
Organize a formal Access Fund Adopt-A-Crag day once a year
Coordinating trail work and trash pickup
All Crag Stewards must be approved by the RMF Crag Stewardship Committee. The committee will also offer organizational and logistical support as needed.
