Trip Report: Time Wave Zero by Codey Foster

On February 23rd we traveled to Mexico with a single objective:
Time Wave Zero (TWZ) 5.12a III, 23 pitches of pure concentrated sport climbing in El Potero Chico.

Earlier this year we received an envelope with no return address. Its contents were what appeared to be a copy of the RMF’s Deed of Conservation Restriction and a letter from a concerned neighbor, who wanted to make us aware of a troubling situation while remaining anonymous.

2021 saw the completion of two important projects related to information and navigation at Ragged.

For years, we at the RMF have watched the seemingly inexorable decline of the hemlocks, rooted in the rocky soil around Ragged Mountain’s Main Cliff. One by one they fell victim to Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, Adelges tsugae (HWA) and there was nothing to be done… or so we thought.

A throwback to climbing before 2020

The seasonal climbing closure at West Rock State Park in New Haven has been lifted. Effective 8/29/2020
